Thallus rimose-areolate to verrucose or continuous, greyish white to creamish, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus black. Apothecia sessile, 0.5–1.4 mm diam.; disc blackish brown, epruinose or slightly greyish-pruinose; margin black, thin, entire, initially distinct, later becoming excluded. Cortex and algal cells absent. Excipulum with a hyaline inner part and faintly grey-green outer part. Epihymenium dark green to olivaceous, c. 10 µm thick, lacking crystals. Hymenium and subhymenium hyaline. Hypothecium hyaline or yellowish. Paraphyses sparingly branched and capitate apically. Ascospores broadly ellipsoidal, 8.0–12.5 × 5.0–8.0 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus: K+ yellow, C+ orange, Pd+ pale orange; containing atranorin (major), thiophanic acid (major), 2,5,7-trichloro-3-O-methylnorlichexanthone (major), zeorin (major), isoarthothelin (major), chloroatranorin (minor) and 5,7-dichloro-3-O-methylnorliche-xanthone (minor). |

Known from siliceous, coastal rocks in Tas. Also in southern New Zealand. | ||
